Hey Family, itโ€™s Bishop White again, and today I want to talk to those of you who have been staring at a part of your life that did not turn out the way you expected and wondering whether there is still anything meaningful ahead of you. Something ended. Something changed. Something was lost. Maybe a relationship did not survive, a dream never became what you believed it would become, a door closed that you were certain would remain open, or you made a decision you wish you could go back and change. Whatever brought you to this place, there comes a moment when the heart has to decide whether it will keep living inside what happened or begin believing that life can still move forward.

ย

Beginning again can be difficult because endings have a way of making themselves feel final. When disappointment is fresh, it is easy to believe that what was lost was the only version of life that could have made us happy. When regret is involved, the struggle can become even deeper because we are not only grieving what happened; we are also judging ourselves for how we got there. We replay conversations, choices, missed opportunities, and moments when we wish we had known then what we know now. Before long, regret stops being something we feel and begins becoming a place where we live.

Sometimes the hardest thing about beginning again is not the new beginning itself. It is releasing the belief that the old ending had the right to determine everything that came after it. We can become so emotionally connected to what should have happened that we struggle to see what can still happen. We keep measuring the future by the shape of the past, and because the future does not look like what we once imagined, we assume it cannot still be good.

ย

But Scripture repeatedly shows us that God is not limited to the first version of a personโ€™s story.

ย

Think about Peter. He was confident, outspoken, committed, and convinced that he would stand with Jesus no matter what happened. Yet when the pressure came, Peter denied three times that he even knew Him. This was not a small failure. This was the kind of moment that could have caused a man to spend the rest of his life defining himself by one terrible night. Peter had every reason to feel ashamed, disqualified, and unworthy of another opportunity.

ย

But Jesus met him again.

ย

In John 21, Jesus did not pretend the denial had never happened, and He did not restore Peter by ignoring the truth. He dealt with him directly, lovingly, and intentionally. He asked Peter about his love, and then He gave him responsibility again: โ€œFeed my sheep.โ€ Peterโ€™s restoration did not erase his failure, but it proved that failure did not have the authority to erase his future.

ย

That is an important truth for those of us who are trying to begin again.

ย

Some people need to begin again after circumstances they did not choose. Others need to begin again after choices they deeply regret. Either way, beginning again requires honesty. It does not mean pretending you were not hurt, pretending you did not lose something, or pretending your decisions had no consequences. Healing does not ask us to rewrite history. It asks us to stop giving history more authority than it deserves.

ย

There are things you may never get back in the same form. Some relationships will not return. Some doors will not reopen. Some seasons truly are over. There are consequences that may have to be accepted and grief that may have to be walked through. But none of that means there is nothing left for God to do with your life.

ย

Sometimes the new beginning does not look like getting the old life back. Sometimes it looks like becoming healthier, wiser, more discerning, more honest, and more whole than you were before.

ย

That kind of beginning may feel quieter. It may not come with applause or a dramatic announcement. It may begin with one different decision, one conversation, one boundary, one prayer, one application, one apology, one act of courage, or one moment when you finally stop telling yourself that it is too late.

ย

Do not despise that beginning simply because it is small.

ย

ย

Lamentations 3:22โ€“23 says, โ€œIt is of the LORDโ€™S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.โ€

ย

There is something deeply comforting about those words. Jeremiah does not write them from a life untouched by grief. He speaks of new mercies while surrounded by devastation. The promise of a new morning does not mean yesterday did not hurt. It means yesterday did not exhaust the mercy of God.

ย

Isaiah 43:18โ€“19 says, โ€œRemember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?โ€

ย

God was not telling His people to become careless with history. He was warning them not to become so attached to what He had done before that they became unable to recognize what He was doing next.

ย

And Paul writes in Philippians 3:13โ€“14, โ€œForgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark.โ€

ย

Paul remembered his past. He knew exactly who he had been and what he had done. But he refused to allow yesterday to become the direction of tomorrow.

ย

ย

Take a quiet moment and honestly ask yourself:

ย

โ€ข Is there an ending in my life that I have allowed to become a conclusion about my future?

ย

โ€ข Am I grieving what actually happened, or am I also grieving the life I imagined should have happened?

ย

โ€ข Have I allowed regret to become punishment instead of letting it become wisdom?

ย

โ€ข What have I learned from the last season that I did not know when I entered it?

ย

โ€ข Is there an area of my life where I have quietly decided, โ€œIt is too late for meโ€?

ย

โ€ข What would beginning again look like if I stopped trying to recreate the past and allowed God to lead me forward differently?

ย

Be honest with yourself here. Sometimes we say we want a new beginning while secretly asking God to restore the old one exactly as it was. Healing may require us to release not only what happened, but also the picture of how we thought life was supposed to unfold.

ย

Beginning again does not mean you are starting from nothing. You are beginning with experience, lessons, scars, wisdom, discernment, and a deeper understanding of yourself than you may have had the first time. What you have been through may have changed you, but change does not always mean damage. Sometimes what feels like being reduced is actually life stripping away what can no longer go with you.

ย

๐“๐‡๐ˆ๐’ ๐–๐„๐„๐Šโ€™๐’ ๐‡๐„๐€๐‹๐ˆ๐๐† ๐’๐“๐„๐

ย

This week, identify one area of your life where you have stopped believing that a new beginning is possible. Do not try to repair everything at once. Start with one place and ask yourself, โ€œWhat is one healthy, honest step I can take from where I am now?โ€

ย

Your step may be practical or spiritual. It may mean making a call you have been postponing, asking for help, applying for something new, returning to prayer, establishing a boundary, seeking wise counsel, taking responsibility for something that needs to be corrected, or simply admitting that you are ready to stop living emotionally inside a season that has already ended.

ย

The goal is not to force yourself into a future you are not prepared for. The goal is to stop allowing fear, regret, or disappointment to convince you that no future exists.

ย

๐‘๐„๐Œ๐„๐Œ๐๐„๐‘:

ย

โ€ข An ending is not always a verdict.

ย

โ€ข Regret can teach you without becoming your identity.

ย

โ€ข Starting again does not mean pretending you were never hurt.

ย

โ€ข You are allowed to move forward even if everyone does not understand your new direction.

ย

โ€ข A different future is not necessarily a lesser future.

ย

โ€ข Godโ€™s mercy is not limited by how long it took you to learn the lesson.

ย

โ€ข You are not beginning from nothing; you are beginning from experience.

ย

๐‚๐‹๐Ž๐’๐ˆ๐๐† ๐„๐๐‚๐Ž๐”๐‘๐€๐†๐„๐Œ๐„๐๐“

ย

Family, some of you have spent so much time looking at what ended that you have not realized how much life is still in front of you.

ย

You remember the relationship, the opportunity, the dream, the version of yourself you thought you would become, or the years you wish you could get back. You look at where you are now and compare it with where you thought you would be, and somewhere in that comparison your heart began to believe that you missed your moment.

ย

But your life cannot be measured only by what did not happen.

ย

There are things you know now that pain had to teach you. There are boundaries you understand now because you once lived without them. There is discernment you have because you trusted too quickly. There is humility you possess because something humbled you. There is compassion in you because you know what it feels like to hurt. Even some of the things you would never choose to experience have taught you something about life, about people, about yourself, and about God.

ย

That does not make everything that happened good.

ย

It means everything that happened does not have to be wasted.

ย

You may have lost years, but you have not lost your right to live the years that remain.

ย

You may have made mistakes, but mistakes do not automatically cancel purpose.

ย

You may have been deeply disappointed, but disappointment does not possess the authority to announce that nothing good can happen again.

ย

You may have to begin differently than you planned. You may begin more carefully. You may begin with stronger boundaries and fewer illusions. You may begin without some of the people you once thought would be there. You may begin with scars that remind you of what happened but no longer dictate who you must become.

ย

And that is still a beginning.

So do not rush yourself, but do not bury yourself either.

ย

Grieve what needs to be grieved. Take responsibility for what needs to be owned. Release what cannot be changed. Learn what the last season came to teach you. And when the time comes to take the next step, do not let shame convince you that you have forfeited the right to take it.

ย

Peter was not finished at the fire where he denied Jesus.

ย

And you are not necessarily finished at the place where you failed, lost, hurt, changed, or had to let go.

ย

There is still life ahead of you.

ย

There is still growth ahead of you.

ย

There is still healing ahead of you.

ย

And there may still be more within you than this last season allowed you to see.

ย

So when your heart asks, โ€œCan I really start over from here?โ€ remember that beginning again does not require you to know everything about the road ahead.

ย

It only requires enough faith, honesty, and courage to take the next step.
